What ClickFunnels is
ClickFunnels is a US-based builder for sales funnels. A sales funnel takes a visitor through several steps from first contact to purchase: they land on a page, sign up for a freebie, receive emails, buy and then see a matching add-on offer.
Instead of connecting website, newsletter tool, shop and payment provider one by one, you build everything in one place. The current version is ClickFunnels 2.0 and, besides pages and funnels, includes email sending, a shop, membership areas, courses and a simple CRM.

Build your first funnel in 5 steps
- Set the goal. One funnel, one goal: collect sign-ups, sell a product or fill appointments.
- Pick a template and adapt the page order to your offer. Delete steps you do not need.
- Write the copy. First the landing page headline, then the offer, then the emails. One message runs through every page.
- Connect domain, payments and email and check with a test purchase that everything arrives.
- Measure and improve. After a week, see on which page most people drop off and test a variant right there.
Metrics and optimisation
A funnel is never finished. These numbers show you where to start:
- Sign-up rate of the landing page: how many visitors leave their details?
- Open and click rate of the emails: do they arrive, and do people read on?
- Purchase rate of the sales page and take rate of the upsell.
- Revenue per visitor: the number that finally decides your ad budget.
Test one thing at a time, for example the headline. And let a test run until enough visitors have gone through, otherwise chance decides.

The plans differ mainly in the number of funnels, contacts, domains and team members. There is a free trial. Check the current pricing page before you buy, ClickFunnels changes limits and promotional prices often.
Limits of ClickFunnels
- Cost. From about $81 a month, ClickFunnels is a big item for small businesses that mainly collect enquiries.
- Data protection. ClickFunnels is a US provider. For use in the EU you need a data processing agreement and should review transfers to the US.
- Fairly simple forms. ClickFunnels is strong for online courses and product sales. For enquiries with many questions, branching, price calculators or appointment booking, the built-in forms are thin.
- Lock-in. Pages, contacts and emails live with the provider. If you cancel, you move.

Rule of thumb: if you sell online to people you do not talk to first, ClickFunnels plays to its strengths. If you want to talk to prospects before a deal happens, the quality of the enquiry matters most.
